Adidas launches the Stan Smith Spring/Summer 2014 collection. The classic silhouette of the legendary Stan Smith shoe returns and it has been reinvigorated and updated while still staying true to the look and shape of the original design.

A global fashion icon is reborn this Spring/Summer 2014 as the legendary Stan Smith returns from its sabbatical. The classic silhouette returns and has been reinvigorated and updated for the modern day while still staying true to the look and shape of the original.

Since its debut as a tennis shoe, the Stan Smith has made its way from the tennis court to the street. With over 40 million pairs sold, the Stan Smith is Adidas’ best-selling shoe of all time. American tennis icon Stan Smith wore the world’s first ever leather tennis shoe in 1971, when he won the US Open on grass and on clay with the American team for the Davis Cup. In 1972, he won Wimbledon wearing the classic Adidas shoe.

Originally introduced and developed for the French tennis player Robert Haillet in the mid-1960s, the name of Stan Smith was added to the tennis shoe, alongside Haillet’s, at the start of the 70s, before it was designated as the signature sneaker of the American sporting icon in 1972.

The Adidas Stan Smith Footwear collection retails for SGD139 and is available at the Adidas Originals Concept Stores in Pacific Plaza, Bugis+ and JEM, as well as the Adidas Brand Concept Stores at Suntec City Mall and The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. The shoes are also sold at Tangs Orchard, Sole Central, Limited Edt Chambers at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands and Limited Edt Vault at 313 @ Somerset.

I’m a huge supporter of Adidas (and Nike too). But I haven’t been playing tennis for the longest time, so not a must-have for me right now. If these came in a gym or golf version, I would grab it in a heartbeat. #justsaying
