Barbie to business: The glamour of an entrepreneur’s palette

Unveiling Barbie-inspired illustrations, entrepreneurship insights and the upcoming Barbie movie scoop. Step into the world where glamour meets grit.

Buckle up, folks! We’re swapping our business suits for a much more fabulous ensemble as we cruise down memory lane with Barbie – yes, that’s right, the iconic doll that has held a place in our hearts (and our toy chests) since immemorial. What’s the occasion? Why, we’re celebrating the upcoming live-action Barbie movie, of course!

It’s been a while since I’ve shared any of my illustrations. As you know, I’ve been dipping my toes in the waters of entrepreneurship and marketing, but the buzz about the upcoming Barbie movie brought back all those childhood memories of my Barbie dolls. This felt like the perfect opportunity to blend my passions – art, business, and Barbie!

So, grab a cuppa, sit back, and prepare for an illustration showcase as full of sparkle as the diamond-studded gown from “Barbie and the Diamond Castle“.

When it comes to business lessons, Barbie is far from a plastic plaything. She’s a role model with an enviable CV, boasting over 200 careers under her miniature belt. We can’t all live in a Dreamhouse, but we can certainly learn a thing or two about brand longevity, diversification, and the power of transformation from this iconic fashion doll. As we prepare to feast our eyes on Margot Robbie bringing Barbie to life in the upcoming movie, let’s take a stroll down the pink carpet and delve into the glamour and grit of this entrepreneurial adventure.

As a sneak peek into my illustrations, each sketch is inspired by a different Barbie movie. Barbie’s wardrobe is, of course, to die for, but I’ve been particularly fascinated with how each movie costume reflects the essence of her character and the journey she undertakes. What’s more, each illustration has been created with a marketer’s eye, as each Barbie movie, in a way, is a brilliant marketing campaign.

The Barbie movie, slated to hit screens soon, is already creating a stir amongst fans and critics alike. Apart from the ever-so-fabulous Margot Robbie, the cast includes a stellar line-up of talent – from the versatile Ryan Gosling as Ken to the vivacious Dua Lipa, who will lend her voice for a musical treat. As we know, Barbie is all about transformation, and the film promises to embrace this ethos wholeheartedly, with a star-studded line-up playing multiple Barbies.

While we’re on the subject, let’s address the buzz around the leading lady herself. Margot Robbie is the epitome of GirlBoss energy, both starring in and producing the film. The official Warner Bros. teaser image radiates Barbie charm, showcasing Margot in a striped blue halter top and a polka-dotted blue headband, with her hands on the wheel of a bright pink convertible.

Let’s not forget the other ladies who will transform into Barbie – Emma Mackey, Hari Nef, Alexandra Shipp, and Issa Rae. As per reports, all the Barbies had a sleepover together at the start of the shooting, bringing to life every childhood Barbie fantasy!

Moving on to Ken, the one and only Ryan Gosling is playing Barbie’s boyfriend, making hearts flutter already. But hold onto your crowns because Simu Liu will also be playing an iteration of Ken. In a nod to the commitment actors bring to their roles, Liu shared his, ahem, ‘educational’ experience with waxing for the part.

Finally, as for the music that will accompany this whimsical journey, the disco-inspired track “Dance the Night” by Dua Lipa has already been released, and the Barbie The Album features artists like Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, Lizzo, and Charli XCX.

With Little Women and Lady Bird director Greta Gerwig at the helm of this project, the Barbie film promises a journey of nostalgia, glamour, and business lessons wrapped in a pink bow. Gerwig’s involvement has already raised expectations – after all, who could resist the blend of Barbie and the brilliance of Gerwig?

As we anxiously wait for the movie, let’s celebrate the fusion of fashion, business, and glamour with these illustrations inspired by the very essence of Barbie – a woman who can wear any hat (or tiara) and succeed in any field she steps into. This Barbie movie spectacle is not just a celebration of an iconic toy but of female empowerment, versatility, and the ability to dream big and live in colour. Here’s to Barbie – a fashion icon, an entrepreneurial inspiration, and an undeniable piece of our childhood memories. Now, who’s ready to dive into the Barbie world?
